PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal mold heater capable of efficiently preheating a fixed metal mold and a movable metal mold.SOLUTION: There is provided the metal mold heater to be disposed between a fixed metal mold 50 and a movable metal mold 51 opposed to the fixed metal mold and capable of moving toward and away from the fixed metal mold, for preheating the fixed metal mold and the movable metal mold, before molten material is injected inside a cavity formed by clamping the fixed metal mold and the movable metal mold. The metal mold heater includes: a main body 2 to be disposed between the fixed metal mold and the movable metal mold; a penetration space formed at the main body so as to penetrate the main body, and having openings that open at a first opposing surface opposed to the fixed metal mold and at a second opposing surface opposed to the movable metal mold respectively, when the main body is disposed between the fixed metal mold and the movable metal mold; and multiple infrared heaters 3 each including carbonaceous heating elements encapsulated in a glass tube, and arranged so as to be adjacent to one another in a predetermined direction, at positions opposed to the cavity formed at one or both of the fixed metal mold and the movable metal mold, in the penetration space, for irradiating the cavity with infrared light by electrification of the carbonaceous heating elements, to heat the cavity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
