PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel linear motor which effectively utilizes advantages of a voice coil motor and a linear synchronous motor, and a device therefor.SOLUTION: A yoke 10 of a linear motor 1 has a space 19 in which a movable element can move, and in a length direction, a plurality of permanent magnets 20 of different magnetic poles are alternately disposed. The movable element is configured as a coil assembly 30 in which three or more multiple coils are assembled adjacently and integrally, and accommodated in a movable manner within the space 19. In accordance with positions of coils opposite to permanent magnets, a control part 2 applies to a coil that is located at a position completely opposite to a permanent magnet a DC current of a polarity to be the same magnetic pole as that of the permanent magnet to which the coil is opposite (1), does not supply power to a coil which is not completely opposite to the permanent magnet and away from a direction of movement of the coil assembly (2), and supplies to a coil that is opposite to a next permanent magnet neighboring to the permanent magnet a DC current of a polarity to be the same magnetic pole as that of the next permanent magnet (3).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
