PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device and a liquid discharge method which allow high quality printing to be performed by stable liquid discharging.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge method in an inkjet type printing method, which impacts liquid droplets to a printing medium, performs: a preliminary drawing step in which an inside of a nozzle filled with liquid is depressed by application of a first voltage to a piezoelectric element and the liquid is preliminarily drawn into the inside of the nozzle from a tip opening part; and a discharging step in which liquid droplets are discharged from the tip opening part, by applying a second voltage to the piezoelectric element after the preliminary drawing step to press the inside of the nozzle. The discharging step includes a step of coinciding timing for finishing the application of the second voltage with timing at which residual vibration of the piezoelectric element generated due to the preliminary drawing step is in a phase state in which inner pressure of the nozzle is maintained or increased.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
