PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a low-sound pressure region from being generated on a scan surface in a case of generating an ultrasonic image on the basis of a virtual sound source method.SOLUTION: A plurality of transmission focal points (a plurality of virtual sound sources) F1-F7 are formed with a two-dimensional pattern on a scan surface. Specifically, the first transmission beams having the first transmission focal point and the second transmission beams having the second transmission focal point are alternately formed in the scan direction. A plurality of first sub-images LRI1, LRI3 and LRI7 are formed with formation of the plurality of first transmission beams, and a plurality of second sub-images LRI2, LRI4, LRI6 are formed with formation of the plurality of second transmission beams.
