PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the calibration of the acoustic detection elements of the probe in an apparatus which acquires information of a subject using photoacoustic tomography.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus comprises: a plurality of detection elements, each of which receives an acoustic wave transmitted from a subject irradiated with light and outputs an electrical signal; a probe which carries the plurality of detection elements such that a high-resolution region is formed; a processing unit acquiring specific information of the subject using the electrical signals; and a memory unit storing correction data for correcting the electrical signal output by each of the plurality of detection elements, the correction data containing information based on the positions of the plurality of detection elements and information based on their sensitivity. The processing unit amends the correction data on the basis of the electrical signals output when an absorber for calibration is used as a subject at a predetermined position during calibration of the apparatus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
