PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the generation of a white spot, while obtaining sufficient image density in the recessed and projecting parts of the surface of a recording material by outputting a secondary transfer bias with an easily generated voltage waveform, with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a transfer member which comes into contact with the surface carrying a toner image of an image carrier, to form a secondary transfer nip and a secondary transfer bias power supply which outputs a voltage, to transfer the toner image on the image carrier to the recording material held in the secondary transfer nip. The secondary transfer bias power supply is configured so that a plurality of AC voltages whose waveforms are basic waveforms are superimposed and outputted. In the voltage, when transferring the toner image on the image carrier to the recording material, the voltage in a transfer direction where the toner image is transferred from an image carrier side to a recording material side and the voltage having a polarity reverse to that of the voltage in the transfer direction are alternately switched and the waveform of the voltage is biased in the transfer direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
