The present invention relates to an arc detecting apparatus of a gas insulated switchgear, which detects accidents (arc) generated from an inner portion of a gas insulated switchgear and can accurately locate a position of fault. The arc detecting apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an optical transmitting unit which detects the light of the arc generated in a gas compartment of the gas insulated switchgear and transmits the light of the arc to an optical signal; and an arc detecting unit which decides a position where the arc occurs by processing the optical signal received from the optical transmitting unit.
