The present invention relates to an apparatus to diagnose a failure of a current sensor for a three-phase brushless alternating current (AC) motor and a method thereof. The apparatus to diagnose a failure of a current sensor for a three-phase brushless AC motor according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: the three-phase brushless AC motor; the current sensor to measure a phase current of the three-phase brushless AC motor; a motor driving unit to drive the three-phase brushless AC motor; and a control unit to drive the three-phase brushless AC motor using the motor driving unit, periodically calculate a phase current error using a phase current fed back through the current sensor and determine that the current sensor corresponding to a phase is out of order based on the phase current error if an accumulated error count value for a preset period of time reaches a predetermined value. |
