The present invention relates to a method to detect a blood vessel based on a medical image and an apparatus thereof. The method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first step of generating a parameter space covering blood vessels shown in a medical image obtained using an angiography; a second step of generating a plurality of curves using a bezier curve having a normal vector aligned along the blood vessel while variably controlling the size of the generated parameter space; and a third step of selecting at least one curve among the generated plurality of curves.
