The present invention also relates to a process for preparing a compound by chemical reaction in an electrochemical reactor comprising at least one porous electrode, the reactants of said chemical reaction being obtained by electrochemical reaction. The present invention relates in particular to the use of an electrochemical reactor for degrading nitrates to dinitrogen, in the presence of chloride ions, and the corresponding process.
