Abstract: 2016100351 A prefabricated self-supporting building module, comprising a monolithic aerated concrete substrate and a cover layer, wherein the cover layer is fixed to an external surface of the substrate. By being prefabricated and having a cover layer, the building module of the present invention advantageously provides for surface-coated structural elements that can be directly assembled on site, thus reducing construction time. Also, by being prefabricated the building modules of the invention can be produced off-site in a controlled environment. This advantageously reduces weather related variables that typically adversely affect on site placement and coating of conventional AAC building elements.
