[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a seismic base isolation apparatus that can prevent a building structure from shaking, even when a major earthquake has occurred. [Solution] In the present invention, an upper end side of a main column is fastened to a member that constitutes the framework of a building structure, an upper end side of a seismic base isolation column is attached to an upper part of the inside of the main column via a universal joint, and a lower end side of the seismic base isolation column is connected to an upper end side of a base structure via a universal joint. During periods of calm, the building structure is connected and fastened to the main column and is built onto the base structure with the seismic base isolation column therebetween. When a major earthquake occurs, the lower end side of the seismic base isolation column shakes broadly in isolation to the left and right inside the main column by means of the upper and lower universal joints of the seismic base isolation column, shaking on the base structure side is canceled, and said shaking is not transmitted to the building structure. In addition, a compression spring that is installed between the upper part of the main column and a receiving seat of the upper end of the seismic base isolation column absorbs and mitigates vertical shaking. |
