A pneumatic tire which has a tread (1) partitioned by a plurality of groove lines (2, 3) such that a plurality of land portions (5) are formed, wherein projections (6, 6) projecting toward each other from the facing side surfaces of land portions (5) adjacent to each other across groove lines (2, 3) are formed in an area deeper than the tread surfaces (5f) of the land portions (5), and both adjacent and facing end surfaces (6s, 6s) of the opposing projections (6, 6) are formed so as to have a rough surface with large frictional resistance. Thus, the land portions (5) on both sides are reliably supported by the projections (6, 6) which abut on each other due to the compressive deformation of the land portions (5) when the tread comes into contact with the ground, thereby suppressing the deformation of the land portions (5) and reducing rolling resistance while maintaining wet grip performance. |
