METHOD OF CALCULATING RMS VALUE OF SIGNAL AND APPARATUS THEREOF

A method for detecting an RMS value of a signal and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. An initial interval between a first sampling location and a zero potential location for each RMS value detection period of a signal is grasped. Values sampled within the RMS value detection period are compensated with a value phase-shifted by the initial interval. An RMS value for the signal is calculated. Thus, the RMS value of a signal can be accurately and quickly calculated using phase angle synchronization at a sampling point of time.
