The present invention relates to an apparatus for discriminating a front vehicle and a rear vehicle, and a method therefor. The apparatus for discriminating a front vehicle and a rear vehicle comprises: a communications unit wirelessly receiving a message from an adjacent second vehicle, wherein the message includes latitude and longitude data; and a control unit calculating a relative orientation angle between the second vehicle and a first vehicle where the apparatus for discriminating a front vehicle and a rear vehicle is mounted using the received latitude and longitude data and discriminating a front side and a rear side of the second vehicle in the first vehicle based on the calculated relative orientation angle. The present invention easily determines that the adjacent vehicle is positioned on the front side or the rear side by using the apparatus for discriminating a front vehicle and a rear vehicle.
