According to the present invention, disclosed is a video decoding method, comprising: a step of parsing a most probable mode (MPM) flag of a block while parsing symbols of the block of an encoded video from a received bitstream; a step of determining whether a plurality of candidate intra prediction modes, the number of which is fixated, are used to predict an intra prediction mode of the block based on the MPM flag; and a step of determining the candidate intra prediction modes based on the intra prediction modes of a left block and an upper block, adjacent to the block while restoring the intra prediction mode of the block using subsequently-parsed symbols after finishing a parsing process of the symbols of blocks, if it is determined that the candidate intra prediction modes are used and encoding the intra prediction mode of the block through a prediction encoding process using the candidate intra prediction modes, the number of which is fixated. According to the present invention, efficiency of a decoding process is able to be improved, as a parsing process of an intra prediction mode and a restoring process are separated while paring symbols. |
