PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide character information in such a form that a driver can correctly understand the content regardless of an impact time.SOLUTION: When character information is displayed in a display area of a display device, an impact time to an object present around a vehicle is obtained. The shorter the impact time is, the fewer characters of the character information are output to the display device. Thus character information with many characters is displayed when the impact time is long and a driver has extra time, and character information with few characters is displayed when the impact time is short. When the character information has few characters, the driver can understand the content immediately after the information is displayed. Consequently, the content indicated by the character information can be understood correctly by the driver regardless of the impact time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
