PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of preventing the falling down of an elastic member in a piston pin outer portion and a piston pin inner portion and smoothly operating, and having a variable compression ratio.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a piston 1; a connecting rod 2; a piston pin outer portion 12; a piston pin inner portion 13; and an elastic member 20 which enters the piston in outer portion 12 and the piston pin inner portion 13, and displaces the piston pin outer portion 12 to the piston pin inner portion 13 in a sliding direction of the piston 1 according to pressure acting on the piston 1. An end portion 50 of the elastic member 20 is formed in a U-shape, and a pair of parts 21 and 24 opposite to each other in the U-shaped end portion 50 are made to respectively abut on an inner peripheral part on a combustion chamber side of the piston pin outer portion 12 and an inner peripheral part on the opposite side to the combustion chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
