[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a container for forming an embryoid body, the container having exceptional properties for forming an embryoid body and being suited to optical observation. [Solution] It was discovered that an embryoid body can be formed efficiently and a container for forming an embryoid body having exceptional properties for optical observation can be produced through two steps, comprising forming a coating film by applying a specific amount of a compound having phosphorylcholine-like groups in a side chain to the inner walls of a container and drying the compound, and subsequently leveling the coating film by using a specific amount of treatment solution, whereupon the present invention was perfected.
