PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper durability enhancing agent capable of coating efficiently (in short time) and uniformly even when mixed with a pulp slurry or coated on a base paper.SOLUTION: A paper durability enhancing agent containing a surfactant having surface tension (0.1 wt.% solution, 50°C) of 20 to 50 mN/m is used. The surfactant is preferably polyether modified silicone or a polyoxyalkylene compound (1). R[(-OA)-O-R](1), where Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an acyl group, a reactive residue excluding m hydroxyl groups from di- to hexa-valent alcohol or a reactive residue excluding m hydroxyl groups from nonreductive disaccharide or trisaccharide, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an acyl group and OA represents an oxyalkylene group, O represents an oxygen atom, n represents an integer of 1 to 500 and m represents an integer of 1 to 6.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
