The present invention relates to the field of mobile communications. Disclosed are a position information acquisition method and device, the method comprising: receiving a signal characteristic and an identification of a to-be-positioned terminal transmitted by each of a plurality of base stations, the signal characteristic of the base station comprising signal power and additional characteristics, the additional characteristics at least comprising the base station identification and the signal transmission time of the base station; determining a relative power collection according to the signal power transmitted by the plurality of base stations, the relative power collection comprising the relative power between any two of the plurality of base stations; and determining the position information of the terminal corresponding to the identification of the terminal to be positioned according to the additional characteristics transmitted by the plurality of base stations and the relative power collection. The device comprises: a first receiving module, a first determination module and a second determination module. The present invention reduces position information acquisition error.
