The present invention is a target for neutron generation, which is obtained by forming a palladium layer and a lithium layer on a substrate by coating, and which generates neutrons by having the surface of the lithium layer irradiated with charged particles. This target for neutron generation is characterized by comprising, between the palladium layer and the lithium layer, a barrier layer that is formed of a metal which does not form an eutectic alloy with palladium nor with lithium. Specifically, copper, iron, nickel, cobalt, titanium and zirconium are preferable as the constituent metal of this barrier layer. This target for neutron generation does not decrease in the performance after a long period of use, and can be prevented from separation of the lithium layer. |
