PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and systems for scanning, detecting, and monitoring microorganisms on solid or semi-solid media using intrinsic fluorescence (IF) measurements.SOLUTION: The invention provides detection, characterization, and/or identification of microorganisms comprising a step of producing the intrinsic fluorescence (IF) measurement characteristic of a microorganism in one or more colonies by analyzing the colony on a solid or a semisolid culture medium with excitation beam having a diameter smaller than the colony, an analytical object; and a step of identifying and/or characterizing the microorganism in the colony based on the intrinsic fluorescence (IF) measurements.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
