PURPOSE: To provide an image reading device that can prevent a deterioration of read images even when an illumination light source or a driving circuit of the illumination light source fails, and an image forming apparatus.CONSTITUTION: An image reading device irradiating a document image with light beams from a plurality of light sources to read the document image includes: determination means for determining the intensity of light from the plurality of light sources; light intensity adjustment means for reducing the intensity of light of at least one of the plurality of light sources so as to eliminate unevenness in the intensity of light of the plurality of light sources on the basis of a result of the determination by the determination means; and compensation means for compensating for the reduction in the intensity of light by the light intensity adjustment means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 |
