PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device capable of improving security.SOLUTION: A card holder 1 for housing a card comprises: a card reader 108 for reading the identification information of the card from the housed card; an authentication unit 110 for authenticating the card on the basis of the identification information and for generating authentication information indicating that the card is authenticated; and a communication control unit 111 for communicating with a telephone set via a first communication unit 101.
