PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal cycling device which is easy to control heat time; and to provide a thermal cycling method.SOLUTION: The invention provides a thermal cycling device comprising an applied part filled with a reaction solution and a liquid which has a smaller gravity than that of the reaction solution and is immiscible with the reaction solution, the applied part equipped with a biochip including a channel in which the reaction solution moves; a heating part which heats a first region of the channel when the applied part is equipped with the biochip; and a drive mechanism which switches the arrangement of the applied part and the heating part between a first arrangement and a second arrangement; wherein the first arrangement is the arrangement where the first region is located at the lowest part of the channel in the direction of action of gravity when the biochip is equipped in the applied part; and the second arrangement is the arrangement where the second region of the channel in which the position in the direction to which the reaction solution moves is different from the first region is located at the lowest part of the channel in the direction of action of gravity when the biochip is equipped in the applied part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
