PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an austenitic stainless steel capable of being used for a device for high-pressure hydrogen gas and a device for liquid hydrogen or the like providing excellent weldment workability, especially deep penetration depth and excellent strength of a weld metal during welding without using a filler metal.SOLUTION: There is provided an austenitic stainless steel containing, by mass%, C:0.005 to 0.07%, Si:0.1 to 1.2%, Cu:0.005 to 3%, Ni:9.0 to 14.0%, Cr:19.0 to 24.0%, Mo:1 to 4%, Nb:0.1 to 0.4%, N:0.20 to 0.45%, Al:0.0005 to 0.03%, O:0.001 to 0.012%, V:0 to 0.5%, Ti:0 to 0.5%, B:0 to 0.01%, Ca:0 to 0.05%, Mg:0 to 0.05% and REM:0 to 0.5% and Mn with contents of Al and Mn satisfying the following formula (i) and the balance Fe with impurities with P and S of P:0.03% or less and S:0.01% or less as impurities. 10Al+4.0≤Mn≤10 (i), where each element symbol represents content (mass%) of each element.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
