PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an edge-wise coil which has no crease on both sides of a wire, a wide width relative to thickness of the wire and a wide width of the wire relative to a wound diameter.SOLUTION: A substantially rectangular wire 10 in a flat wire shape has a cross-sectional shape that is orthogonal to a length direction and formed from a pair of long sides and a pair of short sides. A surface of the wire at a side of one short side is defined as an inner peripheral surface, and a surface at a side of the other short side is defined as an outer peripheral surface. The wire is bent just at a predetermined angle by applying a bending load with one short side on the inner peripheral surface of the wire as a bending fulcrum (strut 12), and the wire is bent just at a predetermined angle by moving the bending fulcrum in the length direction of the wire just for a predetermined distance and applying a bending load. By repeating such processing, the wire is bent in a coil shape and the edge-wise coil is manufactured. In a region where the wire is bent just at the predetermined angle, a pair of inner peripheral surface side restriction jigs 14 for holding a region at an inner peripheral surface side of a surface at the side of the pair of long sides of the wire therebetween in a slidable manner and a pair of outer peripheral surface side restriction jigs 16 for holding a region at an outer peripheral surface side of a surface at a side of the pair of long sides of the wire therebetween in a slidable manner are disposed while being spaced apart from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A |
