In order to enable the simple, automatic exchange of medium in a cell culture container installed in an incubator, the cell culture system of the invention is provided with: a medium storage means (3) for storing a medium for culturing cells; a temporary holding means (4) connected to the medium storage means (3) and provided with a holding space for temporarily holding medium supplied from the medium storage means (3) and an outlet for discharging the medium; a medium supply means (6) connected to the outlet of the temporary holding means (4), the medium supply means (6) supplying medium discharged from the temporary holding means (4) to a cell culture container (7); and a discharge means (8) for discharging the medium from the cell culture container (4), wherein the medium supply means is provided with a medium intermittent supply mechanism for intermittently supplying medium discharged from the temporary holding means to the cell culture container (4) in a prescribed cycle.
