A method to delete a message in a recipient terminal based on a request of a sender terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a step of receiving a message deletion request including a sender message identification (ID) from the sender terminal; a step of transmitting a recipient message ID inquiry corresponding to the sender message ID to a message server; a step of receiving a response with the recipient message ID from the message server; a step of transmitting a message deletion request corresponding to the recipient message ID; a step of receiving a message deletion notification corresponding to the sender message ID from the sender terminal; and a step of deleting a message corresponding to the recipient message ID in response to the message deletion notification.
