The sealing arrangement comprises a propeller shaft (31) rotatably supported with at least one bearing (41), a water seal (100) positioned on the propeller shaft, a first oil seal (200) positioned on the propeller shaft adjacent to the bearing at an axial (X-X) distance (A2) from the water seal, an intermediate compartment (300) extending between the water seal and the first oil seal and being filled with a gas, a first pressure sensor (91) for measuring the pressure of the sea water acting on the propeller shaft, a second pressure sensor (92) for measuring the pressure of the gas within the intermediate compartment, and a pressure system (500) for producing a pressure to the gas within the intermediate compartment, whereby the pressure of the gas within the intermediate compartment is kept at a lower level compared to the pressure of the sea water acting on the propeller shaft. |
