PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment system and a treatment method which are capable of efficiently and safely removing radioactive substances.SOLUTION: A radioactive substance-containing water and a magnetic absorbent are mixed and radioactive substances are absorbed in the magnetic absorbent in a reaction vessel 3. A magnetic separation apparatus 4 separates the magnetic absorbent from the radioactive substance-containing water. The radioactive substances are efficiently removed by repeatedly using the absorbent by returning the magnetic absorbent to the reaction vessel 3 via transportation lines L6 and L6a. A control apparatus 17 decides whether or not the magnetic absorbent is returned to the reaction vessel 3. This prevents the operation in excess of the treatment capacity of the magnetic absorbent from occurring and the amount of absorption of the magnetic absorbent from exceeding a specified amount of absorption and enables the appropriate determination to be made on the time of replacement of the magnetic absorbent. As a result, the safety of the system is enhanced and the radioactive substances are efficiently and safely removed from radioactive substance-containing water or radioactive substance-containing slurry.
