<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device which allows information display easy for a user to recognize, by devising setting of areas to increase the flexibility of layout of contents. <P>SOLUTION: A content management unit manages content sizes. Meanwhile, an area management unit manages maximum sizes and default sizes of areas. In this case, it is determined whether or not a content size is equal to or smaller than a maximum size of an area (S161), and the area is removed from assignment objects if the content size exceeds the maximum size of the area (S161: NO). If a parent area exists (S162: YES), the parent area is removed from assignment objects (S164) if the total size of child areas exceeds the maximum size of the parent area (S163: NO).
