The present invention relates to an organic emitting diode display device for sensing and correcting a progressive bright point defect, and a method for driving the same. The OLED display device of the present invention includes a data driver which supplies an off driving voltage to a driving TFT for driving a light emitting device in each sub pixel, and senses the leakage current of the driving TFT with a voltage; and a bright point estimating part which compares a reference value with a voltage value sensed by the data driver, estimates the progressive bright point of a corresponding sub pixel, and makes the sub pixel estimated by the progressive bright point a dead pixel to correct the sub pixel.
