PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily switch a nip pressure, according to the kind of a transferred material and to improve the operability of jam processing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device 18 including a first rotating body heated by a heat source and a second rotating body coming into press-contact with the first rotating body, to form a fixing nip between the second rotating body and the first rotating body and provided to be movable between a first position where the pressure of the fixing nip is set to a first pressure and a second position where the pressure of the fixing nip is set to a second pressure lower than the first pressure, an apparatus body 2 storing the fixing device 18, a cover 22 openably/closably attached to the apparatus body 2, and a nip pressure switching mechanism 48 moving the second rotating body from the first position to the second position in conjunction with the opening of the cover 22 and moving the second rotating body from the second position to the first position in conjunction with the closing of the cover 22. |
