A belt assembly 20 suitable for shaping dough sheets when manufacturing three-dimensionally shaped snack food chips or crisps comprises a first array 28 of a plurality of shaping elements 30 and a second array 32 of a plurality of shaping elements 34 extending from an upper surface of a belt 20. The two arrays 28, 32 of shaping elements at least partially overlap, and the elements 30 of the first array are a different size and/or shape from the elements 34 of the second array 32. Preferably, the first and second arrays 28, 32 are regular, and they fully overlap. The elements 30, 34 are preferably convex in shape, and may comprise a shaped wire such as a coil of wire. An oven (6, fig.1) may be provided through which the belt assembly 20 coveys the chips. |
