PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply correct meander of a metal strip without requiring a large scale equipment modification and occurrence of tracking failure in feed forward control.SOLUTION: A meander correction device according to one embodiment of the present invention for correcting meander of metal strips sequentially transported comprises: a meander amount detection part for detecting an amount of meander of the metal strip; a steering roll rotatably supported by a roll tilting part; and a control part. The steering roll feeds out the metal strip in a transportation direction thereof while contacting with the metal strip. The roll tilting part tilts the steering roll in such a manner that a central axis of the steering roll is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction. When meander of the metal strip occurs, the control part reduces a duty tensile force of the steering roll depending on a tilting angle of the steering roll and the amount of meander of the metal strip, thereby promoting correction of meander of the metal strip due to tilting of the steering roll. |
