<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element including a photoreceptor layer having high photoelectric conversion efficiency and capable of making a suitable absorption wavelength, improving performance appropriateness to visible light and improving durability of the element by combining a specific metal complex dye and a specific semiconductor fine particle, and to provide titania particles to be applied to the photoelectric conversion element. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element includes the photoreceptor layer including combination of a metal complex dye expressed by the following general formula (1) and a semiconductor fine particle prepared by using a specific cationic surfactant. The formula (1) is ML<SP POS="POST">1</SP>L<SP POS="POST">2</SP>(A<SP POS="POST">1</SP>)<SB POS="POST">n0</SB>(CI1)<SB POS="POST">n1</SB>. (In the formula, M expresses a metal element, A<SP POS="POST">1</SP>expresses a ligand, CI1 expresses pair anions, n0 expresses an integer of 0 to 2, and n1 expresses an integer of 0 to 4. The L<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and L<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are specific ligands.
