700,473. Two-part couplings. MIDLAND ELECTRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. April 21, 1952 [April 21, 1951], No. 9341/51. Class 38 (1). The " live contacts of a socket are shielded by an insulating, T-shaped, spring- loaded shutter b mounted on the front face of the socket base a, the head of the shutter being guided by walls f integral with the base, or, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), with the cover c. The resilient earthing contact j has two side parts n whose ends are bent rearwardly to engage notches o in the shutter. On insertion of the plug m the earthing pin k first separates the parts n of the contact thus causing them to disengage from the notches o and unlock the shutter. The other pins p then press against the face of the shutter which slides up a ramp d on the base b, so freeing the " live " contacts e and allowing the plug to be fully inserted. |
