PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation checking mechanism of head elements capable of detecting a defective element of a thermal head in a thermal printer without heating the head elements.SOLUTION: There is provided an operation checking mechanism 1 of a plurality of head elements 3-1 to 3-n in a printer which includes a line head 2 consisting of the head elements. The mechanism comprises: a head control section 10 which serially connects each of the head elements 3-1 to 3-n to a resistor for inspection R4 by a shift register 7 and a latch driver 5 serving as selection sections; an operation checking power supply VDD which applies voltage for inspection to a series circuit of the resistor for inspection R4 and the head elements 3-1 to 3-n; and a head control section 10 which measures divided voltage of the series circuit of the resistor for inspection R4 and the head elements 3-1 to 3-n. |
