The present invention relates to an apparatus to control an operation of fuel cell-battery hybrid system and a method to control an operation thereof. The method to control an operation of the fuel cell-battery hybrid system comprises: a step of performing an initial diagnosis of the fuel cell-battery hybrid system when starting; a step of preheating a fuel cell by self-diagnosing an output of the fuel cell after starting; a step of converting into a normal operation mode in which the fuel cell and the battery operate after finishing the preheating of the fuel cell; a step of checking a state of charge of the battery and a load application state by performing continuous self-diagnosis during the operation and restricting a constant current operation or controlling an amount of currents supplied to the fuel cell; a step of executing a system protection mode, a battery operation mode or an emergency stop mode when an abnormality is discovered during the self-diagnosis or when an emergency switch operates; a step of finishing the system protection mode and returning to the normal operation mode when the abnormality is solved; and a step of performing the charging of the battery by checking a battery voltage and a state of charge of the battery with the fuel cell or performing post-cooling of the fuel cell to prevent damage to the system and finishing the system when a starting switch of the system is in an OFF state. |
