The invention relates to a cargo transport unit for transporting cylindrical cargo items, which cargo transport unit comprises a first side and an opposite second side, a first end and an opposite second end, a chute (8) comprising inclined support walls (8a, 8b) for supporting cylindrical cargo items, and a frame structure supporting the chute from below and comprising a plurality of transverse supports (7) and longitudinal edge profiles (25, 26) extending in a longitudinal direction of the cargo transport unit. In order for the frame structure of the cargo transport unit to be made firm easily and quickly, an upper edge of the transverse supports (7) comprises an inclined portion (31) extending from the longitudinal edge profiles (25, 26) of the bottom structure of the cargo transport unit to the lower surface of the support walls of the chute (8), to the mid-section of the support walls, and the frame structure comprises an inclined support (9) extending from a first end to a second end of the cargo transport unit, the inclined support being formed of a continuous plate fastened by a weld joint (30) to inclined portions (31 ) of the upper edges of the transverse supports (7). |
