The present invention relates to an electric wheelchair provided with a means to switch between an automatic and a manual wheel driving mode. The electric wheel chair comprises: a lateral frame coupled to a front wheel and a rear wheel respectively on a front and rear portions in a rotatable manner; a transmission gear and a drive motor to apply a rotational force to the rear wheel, as being relatively fixated to the lateral frame; a clutch shaft to form a shaft of the transmission gear, to rotate in association with the drive motor, to be moveable in a predefined displacement in an axial direction, and coupled to a clutch gear on one end to rotate as one body; and a hub gear rotating as one body by forming a rotation shaft of the rear wheel, rotationally coupled to the clutch shaft by penetration, and formed with a clutch groove to be inserted and separated by the clutch gear in an axial direction by the axial movement of the clutch shaft. As such, the present invention allows insertion and separation of the clutch groove on the hub gear side and the clutch gear on the clutch shaft side, according to the axial movement of the clutch shaft, to allow the automatic wheel driving by inserting the two members, or to allow the manual wheel driving by separating the same. |
