Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4) A draught excluding or sealing strip, beading, moulding or the like 1, composed of a soft but resilient material such as rubber for application to a clip or series of tags 4 of substantially inverted-U shape, is internally of substantially inverted-U shape and fits closely over and conforms to the outer surface of the clip or tags for securing the strip in position upon a supporting flange, and the lower edges of the strip are turned inwardly and upwardly 6 to enclose and grip the lower edges of the clip or tags and maintain the strip in position thereon. The tags 4 are preferably formed of resilient metal, the pressed out tangs 5 making frictional engagement with the supporting flange 3 and facilitating the positioning of the tag on the flange. The strip shown in Fig. 1 has an effective portion 2, and inwardly directed beads 7 which engage the flange and prevent entry of moisture into the strip. It is preferred to use a series of tags spaced throughout the length of the strip, but a continuous clip of the same length as the strip may be used, such a clip preferably having staggered inwardly extending slits from opposite edges to enable the clip to be bent around small radius curves. Various alternative sections for the strips are shown, e.g. as in Figs. 8, 9 and 11. The strip shown in Fig. 9 includes two upstanding flanges 12 which may be used to improve the sealing or to embrace a glass pane or other component. A covering material 13 e.g. textile fabric, may be secured to the strip during or after the moulding &c. process, alternatively the covering may be applied by processes such as blowing on flock &c. The effective portion may be of tubular form or may be composed of sponge rubber &c. Fig. 12 shows a construction in which two glass sheets 11 are secured to a support by means of a strip having two oppositely directed flanges 10. A similar strip shown in Fig. 13 has beads 7 and also two outwardly directed beads 7a to improve the seal. Specifications 649,137 and 655,268 are referred to. |
