摘要 A system comprises a conductive piping structure comprising a conductive casing or tubing within a borehole; a surface installed power and communication module; and a downhole installed conductive casing or tubing sub comprising a sensor, a data communication module for communication of sensor measurements to the power and communication module, and means for providing power to the data communication module and the sensor. The power and communication module is coupled to the piping and a grounded return electrode coupled to the formation, and comprises an AC generator to define ingoing signal path along the piping, the ingoing signal flowing from the power and communication module to the sub and transmitting power from the AC generator to the conductive casing or tubing. A return signal comprising sensor measurements is transmitted through a return signal path flowing from the sub to the power and communication module into the formation around the borehole.
