摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of suppressing generation of cracks on an outer peripheral wall, eliminating a process for repairing cracks and improving yield even when a coated material is quickly dried at a temperature of over 100°C during manufacture of a large ceramic honeycomb structure, and a ceramic honeycomb structure having high thermal shock resistance.SOLUTION: There is provided a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising a ceramic honeycomb body having multiple cells formed by a porous barrier membrane and extending in an axial direction and an outer peripheral wall formed on the outer peripheral thereof. The outer peripheral wall has aggregates containing 65 to 97 pts.mass of cordierite particles and 3 to 35 pts.mass of silica particles and an amorphous matrix comprising colloidal oxide with a thin and long shape between the aggregates, where the amorphous oxide matrix is 0.5 to 15 mass% based on the aggregates.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
