PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter manufacturing method that can suppress adhesion of organic decomposition products, carbon, silica, and the like to a furnace wall and can efficiently manufacture a honeycomb filter under a stable condition by suppressing scattering of the organic decomposition products, carbon, silica, and the like in degreasing and firing steps.SOLUTION: A honeycomb filter manufacturing method comprises: a molded article raw material preparation step of preparing a molded article raw material by mixing a raw material composition comprising a silicon carbide powder, an organic additive containing at least an organic binder, and a pore forming agent consisting of silica; a molded article forming step of forming a honeycomb molded article by extrusion molding of the prepared molded article raw material; a degreasing step of degreasing the formed honeycomb molded article; and a firing step of firing the degreased honeycomb molded article. When the degreasing step is completed, the degreased honeycomb molded article contains carbon and silica including the pore forming agent consisting of silica. In the firing step, the silica and carbon are reacted with each other to synthesize silicon carbide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
