PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine and an exhaust emission control method of the internal combustion engine, capable of improving a purification rate of nitrogen oxide of a selective reduction catalyst by adjusting an addition amount of hydrogen in mixing a fuel, hydrogen and intake air in a cylinder and burning the same.SOLUTION: When a control device 17 acquires a ratio NO/NOat an inlet side of a SCR catalyst 34 and a fuel and hydrogen are mixed in a cylinder 13 to be burned, an addition amount Qof hydrogen injected while controlling a hydrogen injection valve 15 is controlled so as to adjust an amount to make the ratio NO/NOclose to 0.3 or more and 0.7 or less, so that first SCR reaction in the SCR catalyst 34 is enhanced to purify nitrogen oxide in an exhaust gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
