PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device with which it is possible to correct an error included in the output of the sensor used in a two-phase encoder simply with the small amount of data processing.SOLUTION: The position detection device includes a position sensor 18 having a first GMR sensor 184 and a second GMR sensor 185 for generating a two-phase cyclic position information signal in accordance with relative amounts of movement. The correction coefficient determination unit 243 of a position calculation unit 204 creates a normalized position information signal in which the amplitude of each of position information signals is normalized to a prescribed amplitude, and determines a correction coefficient on the basis of a value at which the absolute values of normalized position information signals equal each other. The correction unit 251 of the position calculation unit 204 calculates a correction value on the basis of a correction value function obtained by multiplying a correction reference function having a signal cycle equal to the signal cycle of the position information signal by the correction coefficient, and calculates a corrected position information signal by adding or subtracting the correction value to or from each of the position information signals.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
