PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly and efficiently perform reading work of a manuscript at low cost.SOLUTION: On the basis of a comparison between the quantity of light reception of an image sensor for reading an image and a threshold, state determination processing is performed for determining whether it is a first state where a cover is at a closing position and, if not in the first state, determining whether it is a second state where the cover is at an opening position and platen glass is supporting a manuscript M or a third state where the cover is at the opening position and the platen glass is not supporting the manuscript M. With switching of the state determined by the state determination processing from the second state to the first state as a trigger, execution of read processing for reading the image of the manuscript M being supported by the platen glass with the image sensor is started (S36).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
